Shubhayu: A Way Forward for CINI

Shubhayu is CINI’s holistic health and wellbeing initiative, designed to address the changing health realities of India. While maternal and child health, nutrition, and adolescent wellbeing remain critical priorities, communities today are also facing increasing challenges related to non-communicable diseases, mental health concerns, stress, lifestyle-related illnesses, and environmental risks.

Building on over five decades of CINI’s experience and community trust, Shubhayu promotes an integrated approach to wellbeing across the life course. Rather than addressing health issues in isolation, it connects nutrition, physical health, mental wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, and social determinants of health into a single, people-centred framework.

Shubhayu is guided by the CINI Method—an ecological approach that recognises that health and wellbeing are influenced by individuals, families, communities, systems, and the wider environment. The initiative focuses on prevention, early identification of risks, behaviour change support, continuity of care, and equitable access to wellbeing services.

Over the next three years, CINI will develop, test, and refine practical wellbeing pathways through institutional and community-based settings. The initiative will strengthen digital systems, training resources, counselling approaches, and referral mechanisms while generating evidence and learning that can be adapted across different states and contexts.

Aligned with the Government of India’s vision for comprehensive primary healthcare and wellness, Shubhayu aims to demonstrate how integrated wellbeing services can be delivered effectively at scale. It seeks to create healthier childhoods, strengthen mental resilience, reduce future disease risks, and improve the quality of life of individuals and communities.

Shubhayu represents the next chapter in CINI’s journey—moving beyond disease-focused interventions towards a future where people, families, and communities can thrive, not merely survive.
